Ahoy! My name is Aleksandra and I am -- you guessed it -- the liveaboard. I am 23 years old and I live in Baltimore, Md., and work in Washington, D.C., as a copy editor at a Capitol Hill publication. I have a master's degree in journalism and while I don't write for work anymore, I like to keep my hand in with this blog. My life has undergone a fair amount of transition since I started this blog in 2009 as a graduate student living in a Washington, D.C., marina. That was the year I became addicted to blogs and my professor/editor said, "Why don't you start one?" And I said, "I don't have anything interesting to talk about. Who would read it?"
Yes. I am occasionally delusional. It was a slow news day and I was enjoying the sloth-like pace of a Congress in recess and a nice discussion of canning.
Anyway, it's been a long road for me, with a lot of bumps since that day in 2009. I have since finished my degree, been a program director at a nonprofit sailing center, a church secretary, a freelance editor/typist and, now, a copy editor. Which, in my opinion, is where I belong. And, of course, I've had my part-time blogging job here. (Which pays very well, let me tell you.)
In my spare time I mentor high school students in a leadership program, edit friends' resumes, cook, work on Misty, read copious amounts of sci-fi/fantasy and dread everything about winter.
Pretty average, really.
But trust me, I do have interesting things to talk about. Just check out my archives.
